Responsibilities

The Manufacturing Engineering Technician position will have projects and tasks in both the Poynette and Madison manufacturing facilities.  This position offers a lot of hands-on work with our proprietary manufacturing equipment with various systems involving electrical/electronic controls and mechanical devices. 

 

The first year in this role, you will:

  • Work with an experienced Manufacturing Engineer as a key team member in the electrical and mechanical construction and implementation of new manufacturing equipment.
  • Establish yourself as a resource as a “go-to” person for maintenance personnel, supervisors, and operators on equipment issues, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operation.
  • Be fluent in troubleshooting Program Logic Control systems (PLCs) and making basic modifications to PLC systems using Mitsubishi.

 

You will be able to accomplish these performance objectives by:

  • Engaging in communication with manufacturing personnel to learn the operations including equipment, function, and resulting product.
  • Using AutoCAD to draw a layout of the facilities.
  • Learning Mitsubishi PLC in-house and demonstrate proficiency and assistance in troubleshooting.

Qualifications

What special qualifications will you bring to this position?  The following knowledge, skills, and abilities will serve beneficial to you in being successful as a Manufacturing Engineering Technician.

  • An Electro-Mechanical Associates degree or similar degree; or two to four years related work experience.
  • Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot industrial electrical/electronic control devices/sensors (relays, transformers, PLCs, touchscreens, VFDs, fuses, motors, circuit breakers, motor starters, push buttons/control switches, optic sensors, and proximity sensors).
  • Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot industrial mechanical devises (pneumatics, hydraulics, gear boxes, conveyors, belt drives, chain-drives, and presses).
  • Understanding of mechanical advantage, torque and force measurements/calculations.
  • Understanding of Ohm’s law, electrical safety, and electrical codes.
  • Understanding of drafting standards.
  • Ability to maintain individual task lists.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
