    We are a very successful, proactive, growth company, and are seeking a talented 2nd Shift Production Supervisor to join our Madison plant manufacturing team.

    The 2nd Shift Production Supervisor is responsible for the following items.  

    • Maintain production schedules, quality standards, inventory accuracy, effective use of equipment, manpower skills, and control of costs within planned budget for second shift operations.
    • Coordinate second shift schedules and production with other shifts to ensure the continuation and completion of work in process.
    • Assign daily work to production staff and oversee related processes in order setup, assembly, production machinery operation, and shipping and receiving.
    • Analyze variance reports and drive activities to control and reduce variance costs.
    • Identify opportunities for improvement in process, product flow, or information flow and drive to implementation.
    • Identify and implement opportunities to reduce and optimize overhead expenses.
    • Troubleshoot tooling equipment and machine malfunctions and effect immediate adjust­ment and correction to prevent excessive downtime and maintain company production and quality standards. Involve maintenance personnel as required.
    • Work with General Manager and other supervisors to plan production schedules, staffing levels, quality management systems, pilot runs, etc.
    • Support and promote continuous improvement and 5S in all areas to help meet goals and objectives of the department. Coordinate inspection and quality control activities on all work produced under supervision. Support and implement Quality Management Systems.
    • Maintain all necessary systems, programs, policies and records incidental to operations and staff under the Production Supervisor’s control.
    • Work with Sourcing, Engineering, Sales, Marketing and other departments to aid and implement cost reduction initiatives, new tooling and methods, work simplification, man-hour planning, incentive rates, scheduling, quality control, maintenance and machine repair.
    • Train employees in safety awareness, hazard communication, personal protective equipment, fire and severe weather emergency procedures and other programs as required. Investigate accidents and near misses and complete required forms. Take an active approach to reduce all safety risks.
    • Maintain an up-to-date familiarity with all production operations, procedures and goals for purpose of substituting for other line supervision when the occasion demands. Attend company sponsored training classes or special technical and supervisory courses to keep abreast of and well informed on new developments germane to super­visory function.
    • Manage and motivate staff to do their best work. Promote team cohesion. Get involved and act decisively in difficult employee situations.
    • Operates in a way that supports the values of the company.
    • Participate in interview and selection process for adding new staff.


    The following education, experience, skills, and abilities will serve beneficial to you in being successful in this role include:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Supervisory Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • One to three years of management/supervision experience in a manufacturing environment.
    • Experience with Lean principles, Six Sigma and knowledge of a quality management system.
    • Strong leadership ability.
    • Knowledge of and experience with integrated manufacturing systems.
    • Strong computer and software skills. 
    • Strong interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.  Communication skills will be necessary in one-to-one situations as well as large group settings.
    • Ability to effectively present information and engage in problem solving with large groups and respond to questions from managers, customers, vendors, or other employees within the organization.
    • Exceptional problem solving ability.
    • Strong sense of urgency.
    • Holds self-accountable for meeting commitments.
    • Builds effective relationships and has a team focus. 
    • Bilingual in Spanish desirable.
