    In this role, you will be responsible for managing and running the plastic injection molding and extrusion process along with equipment in accordance with company policies and procedures. 


    This includes:

    • Managing plastic injection molding and extrusion equipment and processes on third shift, including the daily set-up, control, monitoring, and adjustment of running parameters to produce an acceptable and consistent product while controlling scrap and other expenses.
    • The use of sound engineering principles and current technology to diagnose, trouble shoot, and repair electrical, electronic and mechanical, plastic injection and extrusion molding equipment failures at all facilities.
    • Assisting in the design, repair, and set-up of all the injection molding and extrusion dies to ensure the life, consistency and quality of the parts from the dies.
    • Sourcing and managing any outside vendors to help maintain all files and equipment and proactively find continuous improvement opportunities.
    • Collecting, analyzing, and diagnosing production run data and leading the development and implementation of improvements for production efficiencies, capacities, quality, and reduce set-ups, downtime, and related costs.  
    • Assisting Manufacturing Engineering in designing and fabricating prototype machines and devices, using current mechanical, electrical, pneumatic/hydraulic devices for project development and tryout; prepare prototypes by using all machine shop and other company facility equipment and facilities. 
    • Assisting with developing solutions to production operations and problems; diagnosing problems and recommending course of action and modify existing equipment and processes when required.  Preforming special projects as required.
    • Making emergency repairs when necessary to prevent excessive down time and production delay during shift and be available during off hours.
    • Observing and complying with safety precautions and policies, utilizing extreme care when trouble shooting and repair where high voltages or stored energy are involved.
    • Using appropriate test instruments, gear, and equipment to test and insuring compatibility and safety of all circuits, in-line components, switches, controls, etc., to assure performance quality and operation.


    Attending pertinent seminars, shows, etc., relating to the field of plastic injection moldings, electrical control, electronics, energy management for the purpose of advancing knowledge on the above subjects and to apply techniques learned to benefit the company.


    Candidates for this position must demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

    • Two year degree in Plastic Injection Molding, Extrusion Molding or other related technical field/trade and 3+ years of job experience providing familiarity with trade techniques, methods and procedures. Degree requirement may be lifted with 5+ years experience as an injection molding technician and demonstration of all required knowledge.
    • Acquired knowledge of layouts, materials, equipment and devices as to design, purpose and operation related to plastic injection and extrusion molding.
    • Familiarity with electrical schematics and diagrams along with knowledge of electronic process controls.
    • General supervision skills including leading, delegating, communication, and positive motivation.
    • Good verbal and written communication skills.
    • Critical thinking and problem solving skills.
