Aprilaire is currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer! You'll make an impact by contributing to new product design and development from concept through production and leading key projects and product initiatives as they relate to product engineering, performance and analysis.  

 

This role is not 100% remote. 

Responsibilities

Your day will include::

  • Product design with high speed manual manufacturing in mind.
  • Development of multiple cost effective, innovative design solutions, and assembly methods.
  • Work with marketing to developed published product specifications.
  • Preparing engineering specifications including physical, operational, reliability, and performance.
  • Development and implementation of laboratory and field test programs.
  • Obtaining quotations, preparing cost estimates, and billing of materials.
  • Identify and implementing cost reduction projects by utilizing more efficient designs through material reduction, part count reduction, or other design techniques.
  • Working with purchasing for vendor qualification and selections.
  • Working with Product Approval to prepare qualification test specifications.
  • Designing for assembly.
  • Developing design FMEA’s.
  • Developing product design requirements using VOC and QFD methodologies.
  • Working with manufacturing to develop quality plans.
  • Directing project teams.
  • Representing engineering on new product introduction teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering 
  • 4+ years of related experience.
  • Prior project management experience a must.
  • Experience leading Engineering teams and setting priorities.
  • Experience working within industry codes and standards.
  • Working knowledge in residential HVAC controls, such as radiant heating, thermostats, zoning, heating, humidifier, dehumidifier, and air-conditioning controls preferred.
  • Working knowledge of CAD tools such as SolidWorks..
  • Industry experience in consumer products, commercial products and/or electronic products that are mass produced.
  • Working knowledge of regulations, standards, and codes such as those produced or endorsed by, but not limited to, IEC, IEEE, NEMA, NEC, UL, AHRI, and ASHRAE.
  • Demonstrated understanding of environmental, reliability & qualification testing.
