Aprilaire is currently seeking an Senior Electronics Automation Engineer to join our rapidly growing Engineering team! This person will help develop and maintain automated validation testing equipment, and run projects related to the implementation of the automated systems. Responsibilities include involvement in all stages of the development life cycle, from initial concept generation through to final validation delivery.



Your day will include:  

  • Leading projects for developing automated testing fixtures
  • Writing LabVIEW based programs for automated testing
  • Maintaining and debugging LabVIEW based programs for automated testing
  • Working with the project management team from the onset of NPD projects to develop automated testing solutions
  • Ensuring time-lines are met during the NPD process with regards to automated development and testing
  • Developing test procedures for the automated testing fixtures
  • Understanding a DFMEA driven test plan for validating firmware
  • Using Object-oriented programming techniques in C, C++, C#, & Python
  • Validating firmware for embedded systems using an automated process
  • Validating a GUI (Graphical User interface) software for embedded systems
  • Validating all communication interfaces to Wi-Fi wireless modules
  • Validating all communication drivers for TCP/IP, RS485 Modbus, SPI, I2C etc.
  • Developing mechanical lab procedures and tests using an automated process
  • Validating mechanical lab tests using an automated process
  • Developing test fixtures related to the product validation plan.
  • Developing a lab automation process that improves our test reports data and quality.
  • Writing and releasing a product approval report including all related documents.
  • Contributing to formal code reviews within an established agile firmware development process
  • Investigating and working with E&T group to resolve issues that come out of the testing.
  • Orienting lab technicians and training them on test procedures
  • Writing a clear SOP’s to be followed by the lab Technicians.

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a preference in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
  • 5+ years of experience in an Engineering capacity 
  • 5+ years of experience in LabVIEW
  • Certified LabVIEW Architect (CLA) strongly preferred 
  • Experience in overseeing LabVIEW based projects from inception to completion
  • Experience in working within the New Product Development Process
  • Experience in leading projects from start to finish within cross-functional teams
  • Experience coding in other languages such as C, C++, C#, & Python
  • Experience with testing and debugging firmware, software, and mechanical based tests
  • Experience in developing electro-mechanical automated test equipment
  • Experience with validating sound firmware architecture
  • Experience working in an Agile environment, using JIRA and Confluence
  • Ability to continually develop and improve skill and knowledge to perform effectively and adapt to change in the workplace
  • Ability to work on concurrent projects simultaneously with interrelated time-lines.
  • Works effectively with others to achieve shared goals through cooperation, sharing knowledge, joint problem-solving, and celebrating success
  • Highly organized with strong communication skills, and drive to meet organizational and departmental objectives.
  • Sound research and analytical skills, including the ability to troubleshoot problems and formulate solutions
  • Working knowledge of wireless technologies like Wi-Fi, Zigbee, BLE & network communication standards like TCP/IP, UDP, etc
