Aprilaire is currently seeking a Senior Engineer - Dehumidification to join our rapidly growing Engineering team! In this role you will develop, maintain, and ensure conformance to the specifications and performance of the dehumidification product line that serves one of America's fastest growing industries. You'll be part of a team that manages product from start to finish; from innovation, to design and development, and beyond! 

 

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Prepare specifications for new product designs 
  • Develop cost effective, innovative new product design solutions and improve existing designs
  • Prepare and approve production documentation 
  • Provide technical product support to Procurement and Operations
  • Develop cost effective, innovative new product design solutions and improving existing designs
  • Identify robust, cost-effective production methods
  • Identify product or productivity improvement opportunities
  • Be a technical voice in design reviews and design decisions.
  • Execute to meet project schedules, budgets, and performance deliverables
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities such as warranty analysis, and alternate components evaluations
  • Use engineering problem solving tools and methods to systematically solve production or customer issues
  • Ensure adherence to processes such as Warranty, FRACAS, PCO, NPI, and Quality Audit
  • Provide status and information to keep stakeholders informed of and engaged in key activities
  • Provide application support to Product Management and Customer Service
  • Monitor relevant energy standards, building codes or safety requirement sand ensure product compliance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field
  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Working knowledge of HVAC systems
  • Thorough understanding of Psychometrics, thermodynamics and fluid mechanics
  • Passion for improving Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) and achieving the goal of healthy air.
  • Experience leading or having a primary role on a team to bring new products to market
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks; ability to use for design is a plus
  • Industry experience in consumer products, commercial products and/or electronic products that are mass produced.
  • Must be able to produce professional and usable engineering output with minimal direction.
  • Working knowledge of regulations, standards, and codes such as those produced or endorsed by, but not limited to, IEC, IEEE, NEMA, NEC, UL, AHRI, and ASHRAE.
  • Demonstrated understanding of environmental, reliability & qualification testing.
  • Candidate must have experience leading and motivating teams.
