As Manufacturing Engineering Technician, you'll work with the Manufacturing Engineering team at the Madison manufacturing facility and be a resource to the Maintenance team, supervisors, and operators. This position offers a lot of hands-on project work with our proprietary manufacturing equipment with various systems involving electrical/electronic controls and mechanical devices. 

Responsibilities

Your day will include:

  • Working closely with experienced technicians as a key team member on existing equipment projects while striving for continuous improvements
  • Being the “go-to” person and solution maker for maintenance personnel, supervisors, and operators to address problems and get to the root cause
  • Actively engage in collaborative discussions for solving problems for plant tactical and strategic needs
  • Creating new drawing/models, or modifying existing drawings/models, in AutoCAD and SolidWorks
  • Making basic modifications to Program Logic Control systems (PLCs) systems including modifications to electrical controls and mechanical systems
  • Assisting in developing scope of projects, conceptualizing solutions, and procure budgetary quotes
  • Working in the machine shop using shop tools such as mills, lathes, and welding equipment

Qualifications

  • Electro-Mechanical Associates degree or similar degree; or two to four years related work experience.
  • Technical understanding of automated equipment engineering
  • Experience designing custom automation equipment
  • Basic knowledge and application of machining practices and how part tolerances affect machining requirements and cost
  • Knowledge of material properties (machinability, weldability, heat treatment, corrosion resistance, etc.)
  • Ability to develop design concepts into functional engineering drawing
  • Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot industrial electrical/electronic control devices/sensors (relays, transformers, PLCs etc)
  • Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot industrial mechanical devises (pneumatics, hydraulics, gear boxes, conveyors, belt drives, chain-drives, and presses)
  • Understanding of Ohm’s law, electrical safety, and electrical codes
  • Understanding of drafting standards
  • Mitsubishi PLC / HMI experience a plus
