We are currently seeking a Codes & Regulatory Engineer to ensure the continuation of quality and safety of our equipment, materials, and processes of delivering healthy air system solutions by coordinating compliance of engineering codes, standards, and regulations.


In this role you will:

  • Coordinate compliance, certification and recertification activities, for safety and performance, with domestic and possibly international agencies.
  • Assist Engineering with identifying applicable safety and performance regulatory/code requirements that must be met as part of the design process
  • Interface with third party test agency such as ETL, UL, CSA, AHAM, IEC, etc., to understand/confirm safety standards and requirements for our industry
  • Monitor federal, state and local codes/regulations that are relevant to the Aprilaire and Anden product lines and notify stakeholders about changes
  • Interface with federal, state and local governmental agencies such as DOE, CEC and Energy Star to submit petitions and responses for future and proposed codes and regulations.
  • Represent safety agency activities at development team meetings throughout the New Product Introduction process.
  • Support the needs for Maintenance of Business of existing products with design modifications for quality and cost improvement
  • Prepare draft listing reports for submission to safety agency
  • Coordinate and support external safety agency audits to our manufacturing facilities and technology center.
  • Develop the necessary plans with engineering to meet all new or revised performance, construction and marking requirements without interruption to certifications
  • Coordinate ongoing maintenance of listing reports throughout the life of the product.
  • Respond to questions and provide guidance to various internal stakeholders regarding regulatory compliance.
  • Respond to inquiries from internal stakeholders about regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate a field investigation visit and gathering of requested documentation and data for regulatory exams, inquiries and investigations. Reviews documentation and data and prepares for submission.
  • Execute Safety forced failure tests such as Arc tracking, Hot wire Ignition etc.

  • BS in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or a related technical field.
  • 4 + years of experience with domestic or international compliance and certification programs
  • Experience with HVAC/Refrigeration/Appliance/Testing Agency/Regulatory Agency
  • Expertise in national standard that define safety and regulatory requirements for HVAC products
  • Experience in executing safety forced failure tests to ensure product robustness.
  • Customer focused with a proven track record of creating and maintaining positive relationships 
  • Ability to train and mentor staff in codes and regulatory disciplines
  • Resourceful, hands-on, problem solving individual with initiative and drive to work around technical obstacles related to standard compliance.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% both domestically and internationally
