We are currently looking for an Industrial Designer to join our growing team! Our ideal candidate will demonstrate a complete understanding of the design process and be able to work through the process efficiently and independently. In this role you will be expected to identify design problems and consistently generate creative solutions that improve the overall performance and aesthetics of products. 

 

This position will be located in Sun Prairie and is not 100% remote.

Responsibilities

Your day will include:  

  • Collecting, researching, investigating, and evaluating user requirements from internal stakeholders and end users.
  • Collaborating with Design, Engineering, Marketing, and Management teams to translate project goals into relevant design solutions.
  • Understanding and applying basic UI/UX design principles to all products.
  • Communicating concepts and ideas through verbal, visual, and written means.
  • Gathering and evaluating user requirements in collaboration with product managers and engineers.
  • Exploring a wide variety of compelling design options through sketching and rendering.
  • Preparing and presenting design concepts to key stakeholders and incorporate their feedback into the designs.
  • Identifying potential usability issues and troubleshoot UX problems.
  • Adhering to brand style standards.
  • Preparing site-maps, user flows, low and high-fidelity wire-frames for UI development.
  • Understanding and applying future trends in design, technology, and materials.
  • Following established standard practices and procedures, instruction, guidance, and direction from more senior roles.
  • Working with internal and external resources to prototype parts and assemblies.
  • Creating prototypes to explore new product ideas.
  • Testing new ideas before implementation.
  • Designing and planning user research testing
  • Maintaining a robust understanding of materials and manufacturing processes and seeking out new and cost-effective processes.
  • Creating product families that share technologies, manufacturing processes and a common design language.
  • Being involved with user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design of products, provide design input for graphics, user flows, etc.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial/Product Design or relevant field from four-year college or university.
  • Minimum of 3 years Product Design experience required 
  • High level of competency in SolidWorks.
  • Proficient in KeyShot, Adobe suite, i.e., Illustrator (is a must), Photoshop, InDesign, etc.
  • Excellent hand sketching and form development skills (Wacom Tablet experience preferred).
  • Some knowledge of Usability Factors in Human Computer Interaction.
  • A grasp of user-centered design and testing methodologies.
  • Ability to work with stakeholders both external & internal to understand detailed requirements.
  • Experience designing complete user experiences that meet user and internal stakeholder needs and vision.
  • Ability to combine creativity with an awareness of the design requirements.
