As a Mechanical Engineering Intern you will have the chance to work with our product engineering team and learn about how AprilAire products are developed. You will also have the chance to take part in the design process and learn about how we manage to manufacture our products right in Wisconsin. 

 

This role is onsite in Sun Prairie, WI.

What to expect:

  • Start in mid to late May and end by end of August (some flexibility on start and end dates)
  • Full-time hours, Monday to Friday
  • Onsite in Sun Prairie, WI 5 days per week.
  • Paid internship--twice per month paychecks

Responsibilities

As an ME Intern, you will: 

  • Design and develop mechanical systems and components using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Conduct feasibility studies and analyses to evaluate the performance, cost, and reliability of mechanical designs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical systems into larger projects and products.
  • Create technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, and reports.

Qualifications

 Desired Qualifications:

  • Current student enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering program or equivalent (Sophomore or Junior status preferred).
  • Working knowledge of and experience with SolidWorks
  • Creative and innovative problem solver
  • Ability to complete projects, document work and communicate clearly both in writing and verbally
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and to participate and contribute positively in work teams
  • Ability to follow internal engineering design processes and best practices
  • Ability to learn and perform mechanical and electrical standard tests for which a written procedure is provided for various products
  • Knowledge of and the ability to apply computers and the related software to the solution of engineering problems, etc.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge and understanding of HVAC systems functions including heat transfer, airflow and ventilation 
  • Experience in refrigeration and fluid flow 
  • Experience in building sheet metal based electromechanical assemblies
